Before and After

Perhaps, one of the most enticing marketing strategies to prompt people to undergo cosmetic surgery is the use of cosmetic surgery before and after photos. You’ve seen them on TV, in magazines, and there are an overwhelming millions after millions of hits if you research them online. Whether you are searching for cosmetic surgery abroad or in your own locality, all these surgeons will have these photos ready to give you an idea of their skills and expertise. What makes them so effective is the underlying message that if you undergo the same procedure, you will also achieve the same results as shown in the after photos.

Before you get carried away by these tantalizing promotional promises, it pays to ask first if these photos are reliable. In this age of advancement in digital photography, it is more than easy to alter a photograph. You can make yourself look leaner, fairer, smoother, and more attractive with just a few clicks and tricks on your computer and easy-to-use software. If you can do this on your own, more so can surgeons and cosmetic clinics that allot a good portion of their funds to advertising.

There are quite a few deceiving tricks used by some in cosmetic surgery before and after photos. Photoshop is one of the more obvious choice for these ploys. However, it is also easy to manipulate these photos without using photo enhancing software.

First, it is possible that two different models with very similar physical features were employed for these cosmetic surgery before and after photos. You will notice that in some of these photos only a particular part of the body subjected to surgery is photographed which makes it easy to use two different people for the before and after shots. Another scenario is that these photos do not actually belong to the surgeon or the clinic advertising them.

Of course, not all surgeons are using bogus cosmetic surgery before and after photos to mislead you into hiring their services. However, there is always the possibility that those photos may have been altered or do not show the entirety of the story. It is important to remain skeptical when it comes to this so-called proof of a surgeon’s skill. A surgeon’s qualification, experience, and professional background are better measures of his or her capacity to deliver the results that you desire. Thus, you should research on these factors that you can verify and not just rely on the before and after photos shown to you.
